Professor Jane Powell is Vice-Provost for Education & Students at the University of Surrey and assumes responsibility for academic affairs and student support services. As a member of the University’s Senior Executive Board, Jane oversees all aspects of university strategy and development, as well as strategic leadership in relation to learning, teaching and student experience. Prior to her arrival at Surrey in January 2017, Jane held the position of Deputy Warden at Goldsmiths, University of London, with strategic leadership of Academic Development and Internationalisation. She has held a wide range of previous academic roles at Goldsmiths, including appointments as Head of Psychology, Head of the School of Culture & Society, and Pro-Warden for Research & Enterprise. In these positions she developed organisational structures, led the development and implementation of academic, international and research strategies, and orchestrated the Research Excellence Framework (REF) submissions. Before joining Goldsmiths, Jane trained and worked within the NHS as a clinical psychologist, specialising in addiction and brain injury rehabilitation services. She is a full member of the British Psychological Society’s Division of Neuropsychology and an HCPC Registered Clinical Psychologist. Jane has conducted extensive research in her dual specialisms of addictions and neuropsychological rehabilitation.
